Second hand furniture in mixed materials: rattan, painted wood and metal pieces.

Painted, Rattan, Metal and More: the Rest of the Materials

Not everything wonderful is oak. This collection is where the other materials live, and it’s a livelier browse than the name suggests, chosen the same way as everything else here. Material second, condition first.

Painted furniture is the heart of it. Soft greys, creams and sages over solid wood, the country-house look that costs a fortune new and suits second hand beautifully, because a painted finish that’s lived a little has exactly the character people repaint new furniture to fake. If the paint’s been chipped beyond charm, you won’t see the piece here at all. That’s the filter.

Then the rest of the cast. Rattan and wicker, in and out of fashion for a century because it never really left. Metal-framed pieces, industrial legs and steel-handled drawers that partner mango and reclaimed-style woods. Glass-fronted and glass-topped pieces that earn their keep by making small rooms feel bigger. And hybrid pieces, wood plus something, which is where designers have the most fun and where some of my best one-offs turn up.

A practical word: mixed materials need one honest check more than solid wood does, the join. Where metal meets wood or cane meets frame is where cheap construction gives itself away. It’s the first place I look when a piece like this comes in, and if it wobbles, it doesn’t get listed.

Every piece is one of one, up to 90% off its new price, and held for you with a £30 deposit. Free click and collect from Houghton-le-Spring, local North East delivery, couriers UK wide. Hunting a specific look, a painted dresser, a rattan chair? Register it with Sorcit, my free sourcing service, and I’ll email you the moment I find it.

Or head back and browse by material for the oak, pine and mango collections.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First off I don't do reviews, good or bad!! But on this occasion the service was so exceptional that I feel grateful to have stumbled across this small company based in Houghton le Spring in the Nort East and run by Simon. This guy is so fair and helpful, and goes "above and beyond" to make sure his customers are satisfied with their purchase. We bought 2 secondhand wardrobes from DecorDeluxe.club which were exactly as described and arrived in perfect condition, exceptionally clean and almost as new. We live in the North West some 160 miles away but even with the additional carriage costs it was a better deal than we could get locally. It was a pleasure to deal with this company. If you're looking for seconhand, make this your first port of call.
Thank you Simon.
