Most of what crosses the van threshold these days is oak, but not all oak is built the same. Proper drawer joinery, hand-cut angles that lock the corners square and keep them that way. This one made the cut, and now it is here. I'm Simon, and I personally source every piece that lands on this site. This double chest earned its spot the moment I opened the first drawer and felt the weight of solid construction behind it. Seven drawers, arranged with purpose. Three smaller ones across the top, then four larger drawers below in two columns. The layout works. Small drawers for the things you need to reach without thinking. Larger ones for the bulk. No wasted space, no awkward gaps. The whole piece is finished in a medium oak tone, the grain showing through on every surface. Part solid oak and part veneered, and the colour stays consistent across both. The veneered sections are not a shortcut. They are how you keep the weight sensible and the price honest without losing the look.
The metal drop handles have a dark finish that sets off the warm oak without fighting it. The chest stands on straight block legs. Simple, stable, built to take the load. Drop the kettle on one drawer and the whole unit stays planted. That is the difference between furniture and flat pack.
The condition is second hand and in great condition, with a few honest imperfections. The sides have discoloured very slightly, likely from sun exposure over time. A few of the drawers can occasionally catch when opening or closing, although they still close fully and remain functional. Nothing that stops the piece doing its job, and nothing you would not expect from furniture that has been used and proven itself.
