Let’s talk about bookcases — because most are just shelves stacked up and called a day, but this? This is furniture with a sense of adventure. Imagine a vintage dinghy gently pulled ashore and repurposed into a statement piece that holds your books instead of buoys. That’s the magic of the Villiers range from Barker & Stonehouse — and yes, it’s as gloriously well-made as you’d expect from one of the UK’s most respected names in solid wood furniture.
Crafted entirely from reclaimed wood, this boat-shaped beauty tells a story in every knot, grain swirl, and gentle curve. The medium honey tone warms any room, whether it’s anchoring your home office or bringing rustic soul to a living space. It’s not trying too hard — just quietly confident, like someone who knows they look good in tweed.
Three open shelves up top offer prime real estate for your favourite reads, objets, or that slightly overwatered houseplant you keep forgetting to repot. Below, two drawers with elegant oval metal handles tuck away the clutter — bills, stationery, secrets — while sitting flush with the frame for that clean, unbroken line lovers of good design will appreciate. Traditional dovetail joints mean it’s built like a vault, not a flat-pack afterthought. And those softly curved sides? Pure poetry in timber form.
Condition: pre-owned and looking fabulous — in genuinely great condition. There are no imperfections worth mentioning, just the honest character that comes from quality wood with a past life well lived. Furniture that’s lived a little, you might say.
Our pre-owned price is £195 — saving 24 % off the original £825 RRP — which means you’re not just buying storage. You’re investing in craftsmanship, sustainability, and a piece with enough personality to be the talking point when your neighbour pops round for tea.
