Let’s be honest — finding a proper bit of furniture these days, something that doesn’t wobble after two weeks and actually ages with grace? Rare. This sideboard isn’t just another flat-pack dream gone wrong. It’s built from solid oak — real, honest-to-goodness timber — and it shows the kind of craftsmanship you’d expect from Barker & Stonehouse: dovetail joints tucked neatly into each drawer, tongue and groove panelling doing its quiet, dependable thing at the back and base. This is furniture that was made to last, not landfill.
It stands proud at 79 cm (31.1 in) tall, 99 cm (39.0 in) wide, and 47 cm (18.5 in) deep — a perfect balance between presence and practicality. Whether you’re tucking it into a country kitchen, anchoring a dining room, or using it as a statement piece in a hallway, it brings warmth without shouting for attention. The medium honey oak finish lets the natural grain shine, knots and all — because perfection is overrated, but character? That earns respect.
Two roomy drawers up top, with sleek black drop handles, offer quick access to cutlery, linens, or life’s little essentials. Below, two cupboard doors (with matching round knobs) likely hide more storage — ideal for everything from wine glasses to weekend board games. We can’t confirm the interior layout since it’s not visible, but given the build, we’d bet it’s as sensible as the rest of the piece.
Now, let’s talk condition: second-hand, yes — but in great shape, with only a few marks on the top and around the feet. Nothing dramatic. Nothing a little care won’t sort out. Think of them less as flaws and more as footprints of a life well-lived. With a touch of TLC, this sideboard could easily glow like it just stepped off the showroom floor — though we reckon it looks rather lovely right now, just as it is.
Our second-hand price? £110. Yes — really. For a solid oak piece from a brand that knows how to build things properly, that’s not just good value. It’s borderline suspicious.
