Let’s talk about the elephant in the room — dining chairs. Most are either painfully dull or cost more than your monthly coffee habit. Then there are these: a set of four from Barker & Stonehouse, built like they actually want you to enjoy dinner. Solid wood, clean lines, and that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to shout. They’re the kind of chairs that make Tuesday night spaghetti feel like a Michelin-lit moment.
These aren’t just any chairs — they’re Barker & Stonehouse, a brand that knows its way around a proper bit of craftsmanship. And while we don’t know the exact range, we do know this: they’ve been loved, yes, but never abused. Furniture that’s lived a little — it’s got character, not catastrophe.
Our second hand price? £125 for the full set. That’s less than a quarter of the original £1,000 RRP, and frankly, a bargain for a brand that doesn’t cut corners. Imagine walking into a showroom and dropping a grand on four chairs — now imagine getting nearly the same thing, with a bit of soul, for a fraction. Yes — really.
Condition? pre-owned, in great condition but does have some imperfections — and we’re not here to pretty that up. One chair has a tiny mark (visible in the photo, so no nasty surprises), and one backrest is slightly loose. It’s not falling apart — just a bit wobbly, like it could do with a quick tighten-up. The other three? Solid as a pub stool at last orders.
Dimensions? Height: 92 cm (36.2 in) x Width: 58 cm (22.8 in) x Depth: 65 cm (25.6 in) — ideal for standard dining tables and snug enough for smaller spaces without skimping on comfort.
