Solid oak throughout. Light natural finish that lets the grain do the work. No stain fighting the wood, no high gloss trying to hide it. The top is thick enough to take keys, post, a lamp, whatever lands there at the end of the day. The two drawers sit flush beneath it, each one fitted with sleek horizontal metal handles that lie flat against the fronts. Pull one open and you will find traditional dovetail joints at every corner and tongue and groove panelling to the base. Those are the details that keep drawers square and smooth for years, not months.
Below the drawers, two slatted shelves. Open storage, so you see what is there. Baskets, shoes, books, the bag that never quite makes it upstairs. The slats add texture without weight, and the whole piece stays airy rather than blocky. Four thick squared legs anchor it, proportioned to match the top, and the back is finished with tongue and groove panelling so it looks considered from every angle.
