The frame is 100% solid oak, finished in that warm rustic honey tone that lights up a bedroom without fighting the rest of the furniture. The grain is visible, the colour is consistent, and the top has a gentle curve to the front edge that lifts the whole piece out of box-land and into something you actually want to look at every morning.
Now the details that do the work. Both drawers are joined with traditional dovetail joints. You can see them when you pull the drawer out, and you will feel them every time you close it: the drawer stays square, the action stays smooth, and the whole thing stays tight year after year. The back of the unit and the base of each drawer are tongue and groove panelled solid oak. That construction is the difference between a bedside that lasts a decade and one that wobbles after eighteen months. Cheap units use hardboard or thin ply in those places. This one uses oak.
