The drawer fronts carry an angled wood pattern, cut and fitted piece by piece, so the grain runs in opposing directions and catches the light differently depending on where you stand. It is decorative without being fussy, and it does not date.
The finish is a medium oak tone, brushed and glazed, so the grain stays visible and the colour stays warm. The drawer knobs are dark metal, square-edged, and they sit in deliberate contrast to all that oak. Small hardware choices like that are what give a piece its character.
This is solid oak construction done properly. Compact enough for tight spaces, strong enough to take the daily punishment of keys, glasses, phones, books and whatever else lands there at the end of the day. Mid-century modern style still works because the proportions were right the first time, and these have kept them.
