The ring pulls are mounted on rectangular backplates, a bit more considered than standard knobs, and solid enough that they'll still be doing their job long after flat-pack handles have snapped off in somebody's hand. Then I opened the top drawer and saw dovetails. Not staples, not dowels. Proper interlocking joints that hold a drawer square for decades. This is a solid oak chest of five drawers. Two smaller drawers at the top, three larger ones stacked beneath. The layout is traditional and it works: smaller items where you can reach them, bulkier things below. The oak is finished in a medium tone that shows the grain without shouting about it, and the whole piece has clean lines and a rustic, straightforward build that doesn't try to be anything it's not. It just gets on with the job.
Open any drawer and you'll find tongue and groove panelling to the base. That detail tells you everything you need to know about the standard of construction here. Cheap units use hardboard there. This one doesn't. The dovetail joints do the rest of the talking. Drawers stay square, runners stay true, and the piece holds together under daily use without sagging, warping or coming apart at the seams. Furniture of this build quality costs several times this price bought new from retailers of this standard. My PreLoved price is £195. The condition is PreLoved and in great condition, with a few honest imperfections. There are a few light marks to the top from general use, along with a small number of minor marks to the front. Nothing is particularly significant and, as you can see from the photographs, it still presents very well overall. You're more than welcome to come and view it in person before purchasing.
