This tallboy from Barker and Stonehouse turned up and made the cut without hesitation. Seven drawers arranged across four tiers, solid oak, and dovetail joints doing what dovetail joints do best: keeping drawers square and true for the long haul.
Barker and Stonehouse built this piece from solid oak, and that material choice carries the whole character of it. The grain runs deep and varied, knots sit where they landed, and the colour shifts naturally across the surface. No two boards match exactly, because natural timber doesn't work like that. The warmth comes from the wood itself: a medium honey tone that settles into a room without fighting for attention.
Seven drawers. Two wide ones top and bottom, then two pairs of narrower ones stacked through the middle, plus one more. The layout gives you options: fold-away clothing in the wide drawers, smaller items sorted into the narrower ones, or arrange it however suits the room. Adjustable storage without moving shelves, just by how you use the space.
The construction shows itself in the details. Traditional dovetail joints lock each drawer together, the kind of joinery that outlasts trends and rough handling alike. Dark metal ring pulls sit on every drawer front, offering grip and a quiet contrast against the oak. A moulded cornice runs across the top, giving the piece visual weight, and the plinth base includes cut-out detailing that lifts the whole structure off the floor with a bit of breathing room.
