Barker and Stonehouse make solid oak furniture, and this sideboard is proof. The medium oak finish brings out the grain without hiding it under a thick coat of something trying too hard. It's warm, it reads honest, and it suits a traditional or country-style room without forcing itself.
Two drawers up top, both roomy, both lined with tongue and groove bases. Open them and you'll find dovetail joints holding the corners square. Below that, a double-door cabinet splits into two separate compartments, no shelves, so you can drop in baskets, stack serving ware, or hide the things that don't have a better home. Black metal drop handles on the drawers, simple round knobs on the doors. Hardware that does its job and stays out of the way.
