Ah, the double chest of drawers — a true workhorse of bedroom storage, but let’s be honest, most of them look like they belong in a hospital or a budget flatshare. Not this one. This is the kind of piece that makes you stop, stare, and say, “Now that’s how you do practical with personality.” Crafted by Barker & Stonehouse — yes, *that* Barker & Stonehouse, purveyors of proper British furniture — it’s built like it’s meant to last another fifty years. Warm cream finish with a rich oak top that catches the light just right, giving it that lovely country farmhouse charm without tipping into twee.
You get serious craftsmanship here: traditional dovetail joints (the kind that don’t just look pretty — they mean your drawers won’t wobble into oblivion after six months), and tongue and groove panelling on the back and base of each drawer. Solid wood throughout, none of that flimsy MDF pretending to be something it’s not. It’s got presence — real character, the kind that only comes from quality materials and proper making.
And yes, it’s second hand — but so are your favourite leather jacket and your mum’s best wine coffee cup, and you wouldn’t call them past it, would you? The condition? Pre-owned, with some signs of wear, however, still in great condition. There are a few marks here and there — life happens, especially in homes that actually live in — but nothing major. We believe in total transparency, so if we’d seen anything worth mentioning, we would’ve. What you’re getting is a sturdy, soulful piece that’s already earned its stripes.
Dimensions? It’s a generous one: Height: 78 cm (30.7 in) x Width: 135 cm (53.1 in) x Depth: 43 cm (16.9 in) — perfect for a master bedroom that needs storage without sacrificing style. And for anyone interested, there’s a matching pair of bedside drawers and a triple wardrobe available separately. Imagine the set — proper, coordinated, and full of heart.
Our second hand price? £245. Let that sink in. The original RRP was £850. That’s not a typo. You’re saving nearly three-quarters of a grand on a Barker & Stonehouse piece with real build integrity and timeless design. This isn’t about compromise — it’s about being clever. Furniture that’s lived a little, loved a lot, and ready to do it all again in your home.
