Here is the problem it solves. Bedrooms need storage that does not look like a wardrobe threw up. Clothes pile up, surfaces vanish, and flat-pack drawer units start to sag within a year. Then something like this turns up and the solution is immediate. Five drawers, proper construction, and a frame that will not buckle under the weight of actual use. I'm Simon, and I stock one-off furniture that has been built to earn its keep. This Oak Furnitureland Brooklyn chest landed here because it does exactly that, and it does it without looking like every other bedroom in the country.
The Brooklyn range has been discontinued, which means this is now one of the harder pieces to track down if you are trying to match or complete a set. Oak Furnitureland retired the line, so what is out there is what is left. This one combines solid oak with a galvanised steel frame and slim metal handles, giving it that modern industrial edge without tipping into cold or warehouse-harsh. The oak is light, the grain is clean, and the metal keeps the whole thing visually honest. Two smaller drawers at the top, three larger ones below. The layout works.
The frame is not decorative. It holds the structure, supports the drawers, and lifts the base off the floor so you can see underneath it. No skirting board gymnastics, no trapping dust in dark corners you cannot reach. The metal legs and frame do their job and then step back. The handles are horizontal pulls, metal, unshowy. You open a drawer and it glides cleanly because the joinery behind the oak veneer is traditional dovetail work, and the drawer bases are tongue and groove panelling. Those details matter. They are the reason this piece will still be opening smoothly in ten years while flat-pack equivalents are kindling.
The condition is PreLoved and in great condition, with a few honest imperfections. There is a very small mark to the top of the chest of drawers. It is barely noticeable and, at first glance, could easily be mistaken for a natural knot or variation in the wood. It is only a very minor imperfection, but as always, I like to make potential customers aware of anything I notice so there are no surprises.
My PreLoved price is £195. For a discontinued Oak Furnitureland piece built from solid oak with proper joinery and a steel frame that does more than hold up a flatscreen, that is value you can feel every time you slide a drawer open.
