Solid reclaimed oak throughout, dovetails at every drawer corner, tongue and groove panelling to the back and the base of each drawer. Those are details that cost money when the piece was made, and they are still doing their job now.
Reclaimed oak means the timber has lived before. It has moved, settled, taken on colour, picked up marks. The grain comes through warmer and more varied than anything fresh off the mill, and the medium oak tone here shows it beautifully. No two boards match exactly, and that is the entire appeal. You are not buying uniformity. You are buying character that was earned, not printed.
Three deep drawers, stacked clean, no fuss. Each one built to take suspension files, paperwork, whatever needs to vanish behind a closed front. The dovetails keep the drawers square under load, year after year. The tongue and groove backs and bases are construction choices you only see when a maker is building to a standard, not a price point. Cheap filing cabinets use thin hardboard there. The condition is second-hand and in great condition, with a few honest imperfections. Above the top handle, there is a very small hole which is only visible under certain lighting. It is a minor and barely noticeable imperfection, but in keeping with our commitment to being completely honest and transparent, I always like to mention anything I am aware of.
