Every drawer runs on runners, which means every drawer slides open and closed smoothly. That matters, because a coffee table gets used more than almost any piece of furniture in a room. You set things down on it, you put things in it, you lean on it, you rest your feet on it. If the drawers wobble or stick, you notice it every single time. These don't. The runners are smooth, the drawers are built with dovetail joints at the corners and tongue and groove panels at the base, and you feel the difference every time you pull one open.
This is from the Oslo range, and here is why that matters. Oak Furnitureland discontinued Oslo. You cannot buy it new in stores any more. That means if you already own a piece from the range and want to add to it, or if you've been looking to complete a set, the only place you'll find one now is the pre-owned market. Good examples don't turn up often. This one turned up, I checked it over, and it's here now for £165. That price stays true whether you're matching to an existing collection or just after a brilliantly made oak coffee table for less than half what this quality costs new from retailers of this standard.
The design is what people call clean lines, which is another way of saying it does its job without making a fuss. Light natural oak finish, the grain showing through, the warmth there but never overbearing. Four drawers in total, two on each side, open compartments either side, and a full-length lower shelf running beneath. Storage where you need it, space where you want it. The legs are square solid oak, tapering slightly towards the base, which keeps the look sleek and the table steady. The drawer knobs are wooden, matching the oak, and the whole piece is finished with smooth edges and tight joins. That's how you tell the maker took their time.
The condition is pre-owned and looking fabulous, in genuinely great condition.
