Most weeks I pass on plenty. Then a pair like this turns up and I know they are coming back with me. Oak FurnitureLand Canterbury bedsides in solid oak, built properly, no wobble, no compromise. I'm Simon, and if I can find two matching pieces from a premium range in this condition at this price, they do not stay on the shelf for long.
Canterbury is Oak FurnitureLand doing what it does best: traditional shapes, solid oak throughout, and build quality you can feel the moment you slide a drawer. These are not veneered boxes with oak-effect fronts. Solid oak drawer bases. Solid oak backs. Solid oak runners. Even the parts you never see are done right, because that is how you make furniture that lasts decades rather than years.
Each unit gives you two deep drawers with flat, framed fronts and dark metal handles that sit well against the oak. The drawers move smoothly and close cleanly, no stick, no rattle. Dovetail joints at every corner mean they stay square under load, and tongue and groove panelling to the back and base of each drawer is the kind of detail that separates proper furniture from flat-pack approximations. You will not find hardboard anywhere on these. Those dovetail joints holding the drawers square are the kind of construction detail that tells you everything about how seriously Oak FurnitureLand takes its craft.
The finish is a natural wax that lets the grain do the talking. Medium oak tones, warm without being heavy, and the kind of colour that works in a bedroom whether your taste runs modern or traditional. Gently rounded corner mouldings soften the profile at the top and base, and the low feet give the pieces a grounded, stable stance that reads expensive.
The Canterbury bedside tables are a beautiful piece of furniture, and the condition here is genuinely great. No imperfections to note, which at this price point feels like a small triumph in itself.
